We’re finally opening classes in our new location! In this class you will be learning with 3 other students, in a class of 4 students total. You will learn from the ground up, starting with what I believe to be the most paramount skill in blacksmithing - hammer control, stance and ergonomics, and a familiarity with the tools of the trade. Once we have a “grip” on that, you’ll move on to learn the techniques of moving metal by drawing out, upsetting, punching and drifting holes. On day two our focus will be on using these new skills to forge out some of our own tools, starting with something as simple as a bottle opener and ending with being able to take your own pair of hand forged tongs home. These lessons will be taught in both written, and verbal direction as well as in tangible demonstrations. This class is the same training that my employees go through to learn how to forge. This class size will be kept small to ensure that I can provide one on one instruction to each student. Home cooked lunch and dinner will be provided at the shop, so expect to have a drink and check out the rest of our shop in the evenings. We are located near Newland, NC in the beautiful high country of the Blue Ridge Mountains. All materials will be provided, including a signed copy of my book, FORGED. There is no experience required for the Basic Blacksmithing class. Once this class is purchased, you will receive an email with our exact address. Classes will start at 9am, and run until roughly 5-6pm each day. I look forward to meeting you!
